Go Red for Women Luncheon

STATELINE (WIFR) -- Great strides are being made in the fight against heart disease, but did you know... it is still the number one killer for women?

Today, Tina Stein emceed the American Heart Association's annual Go Red for Women luncheon, where about 300 people were there sporting shades of red. This is a particularly important fundraiser for the organization. There were stories of survival, including Alice Hasting who learned she needed a heart stent after going almost two years not feeling right.

"The vascular surgeon was really surprised that i was up and walking, it really meant that i could have possibly had a massive stroke or massive heart attack,” said survivor Alice Hasting.
There was also a neat cooking demonstration on how to cook heart healthy. It included a cupcake recipe that used pureed purnes, instead of oil.
