UNDATED (WIFR) -- Forty-million Americans are hitting the road this Fourth of July weekend, but unrest in Iraq is putting the squeeze on gas prices here in the United States.
The price at the pump is at a six-year high. Here in the Rockford area we are paying $3.63/g to fill up our tanks, that's four cents cheaper than the national average.
Analysts believe prices have topped out for the summer. This time of the year the cost of fuel usually goes down, but energy traders are worried about a loss of production due to the crisis in Iraq. Just four-percent of U.S. oil imports come from Iraq.
