ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Average gas prices around the Rockford area continue its decline to $3.48 per gallon. That's six cents per gallon lower than last week.

According to GasBuddy, that price is four cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 49 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The national average has fallen four cents per gallon to just a cent higher than Rockford's average -- $3.49 per gallon. That's seven cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 32 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

"We're likely to see additional relief at pumps in the months ahead," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst, in a press release. "It's quite possible that by the time we're observing Thanksgiving that gasoline prices will be twenty or more cents per gallon lower."
