Garbage Collection Schedule Delayed Due to Labor Day Holiday

ROCKFORD – The garbage collection for City of Rockford residents on Monday September 2, 2013, and the balance of that week, will be delayed one day due to the Labor Day Holiday. Residents that normally have garbage pick-up on Monday will be picked-up on Tuesday and so on through the subsequent days of the week.

The Household Hazardous Waste Site at 3333 Kishwaukee will be open as usual the weekend of Saturday August 31, 2013 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday September 1, 2013 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

As the end of summer approaches, many residents will be shifting their focus to preparing their yards for seasonal changes. Please remember to place yard waste material in either 30 gallon paper bags specifically designed for yard waste or standard garbage cans with a large “X” on the side of the can turned so as to be viewable from the street. Branches and limbs not exceeding four feet in length, bundled no greater than two feet in diameter, nor exceeding fifty pounds tied with bio-degradable twine, may be placed for collection.
