ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford’s odds might be getting better on bringing in a casino.
State Senator Dave Syverson tells us there has been some progress. One possibility, Syverson says, is that a casino bill could be grouped together with a budgetary solution fro the city of Chicago. So Chicago would get a casino with the stipulation that proceeds be used to fix its financial problems.
In that package, Rockford would also get a casino. Another option is a flat out casino expansion bill. Governor Quinn had vetoed the last gaming bill due to fears of lack of oversight. Senator Syverson thinks the governor is more willing to work out a deal this time.
