FREEPORT (WIFR) -- For three months the Freeport VFW has been filled with volunteers following a November kitchen fire, but now veterans are heading back inside.
Post 998 reopens Tuesday tonight for its annual Valentine's Day Dinner. The kitchen has been closed since a November 6 grease fire destroyed most of its appliances. With no food coming out of the kitchen for a couple months the VFW says it has lost thousands of dollars ad it hasn't been easy getting it back to working order.
The post hopes to reopen the kitchen food service by the third week of February where they will serve food Tuesday through Saturday.
