FREEPORT (WIFR) – The city of Freeport is moving in a positive direction and families are likely to get a better glimpse at what’s in store for the future.
Mayor Jim Gitz is giving his annual State of the City address this evening from City Hall. One of the main highlights of his speech will be how he plans on bringing jobs back after the loss of MetLife.
He will also talk about the importance of the upcoming rail service and the medical marijuana cultivation center among other important topics.
“I believe that our best days are ahead of us not behind us. I believe we all as a citizenry all of us as this community pull together, we can surprise ourselves at the amount of work we can get done and how fast we can get it done,” said Mayor Gitz.
Mayor Gitz said there’s a lot of work to be done for the city but believes everything is heading in the right direction.
