UPDATE: Freeport Man Sentenced on Child Pornography Charges

FREEPORT (WIFR) -- A Freeport man is sentenced to six years for downloading and trading child pornography online.

When John Fernandez, 23, gets out of prison he will be on mandatory supervision for three years to life. Fernandez also must register as a sex offender.

Fernandez was arrested last February. Fernandez had faced up to 30 years.



FREEPORT (WIFR) – A man charged with child pornography is in a Stephenson County Jail cell after a state investigation leads to his arrest.

23-year-old John Fernandez of Freeport was arrested as part of a statewide initiative called Operation Glass House.

The goal is to arrest Illinois’ most active downloaders and traders of child pornography online. Fernandez was charged with 10 total counts after police searched his home in the 200 block of North Powell Street. Each count faces a prison sentence ranging from 6-30 years.
