Freeport Couple Move In To New Habitat for Humanity Home

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- After losing their home to a flood three years ago, a couple in Freeport can finally stop calling themselves renters and instead call themselves proud homeowners.

Tracy Blount nailed the final piece of siding up on his new home on Locust Street Saturday afternoon. He and his wife Patricia used to live in Savanna, IL, until a flood washed away their house in 2010. Since august the couple has been working alongside crews from Habitat for Humanity in Freeport. Tracy helped lay the foundation and Patricia did all of the interior painting. Together the couple put in 450 hours of sweat equity into their new place. They call their new home a blessing.

“We're just looking forward to the weather drying up so we can get working on the yard and make it look nice. We want to do some plantings and stuff like that, make it look really nice,” says Tracy Blount.

Habitat for Humanity presented the couple with a Bible and an American flag hang outside their new home.
