Leaders in Freeport consider a move out of their rental space and into the city's Carnegie Library. City services left the century-old city hall in 2011 because it was considered unsafe to work in.
Freeport Mayor George Gaulrapp said the council may decide to restore the old Carnegie Library and move in there while Aldermen decide what to do with City Hall.
Repairs on the library would be less than $2 million, while renovations to city hall could cost between 3 and 4 million. Neighbors plan to bring their concerns about both proposals to Tuesday night's council meeting.
