FREEPORT (WIFR) -- Freeport’s sixth ward Alderman Scott Helms will be resigning his council seat. His last City Council meeting as an alderman will be March 4, 2013.
Alderman Helms and his family are moving to a new home and will no longer reside in Freeport’s Sixth Ward. As a result, Helms will be unable to serve the remainder of his term, which expires in 2015.
In reference to his multiple terms, Helms noted, “It has been my honor and privilege to serve the residents of Freeport’s Sixth Ward for the past seven years. Representing my ward in city matters has been incredibly rewarding and I believe that I have made a positive impact, particularly regarding Freeport’s fiscal health.”
“My work with Neighborhood Watch has also been a highlight of my council career and I would like to express my gratitude to the people of the sixth ward for their civic involvement, and their support as I proudly represented them,” Helms added.
