FREEPORT (WIFR) -- Hundreds of thousands of state dollars are going to Freeport to fix up the roads and build a rail station.
Mayor George Gaulrapp explained Thursday where exactly that money is going. $5 million dollars will go towards the expansion of US 20 from Freeport to Galena. West Avenue through the City of Freeport will be resurfaced. Another $600,000 will help transform the old Raleigh Building into a multi-modal station for trains and busses. The money is part of the state's 12 point $6 billion dollar capital plan.
