Former Poplar Grove Trustee Convicted of Sexual Assaults
A former Poplar Grove Trustee, 53-year-old James Steiner, has been found guilty on six counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.

BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- A former Poplar Grove Trustee, 53-year-old James Steiner, has been found guilty on six counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.

According to village records, Steiner was elected and served as a Village Trustee for Poplar Grove from 2001 to 2005. He was re-elected in 2005 and served until he resigned from that position in January 2009.

Steiner’s sentencing is scheduled for March 19.

Steiner faces a minimum sentence of 36 years in the Department of Corrections. He will be required to serve 85% of any sentence imposed.
