STATELINE (WIFR) -- After three weeks of voting, a former Stillman Valley woman is the winner of the annual Great American School Spectacular.
Hundreds of entries were submitted nationwide, and Kelli Benner of DeLand-Weldon Elementary School in Champaign, Illinois received a total of 18,000 votes to win the grand prize of $10,000.
"It is quite unbelievable that our incredibly small community (population
of around 850 people) was able to gain enough support to be the most
deserving class in the nation," Benner said.
Benner plans to use the award to create a weather center in the school to benefit grades K-8.
The Annuity Group of Great American Insurance Group is helping to revitalize three deserving classrooms with the annual Great American School Spectacular. Now in its sixth year, the program will award
generous cash prizes to three teachers and their schools.

Great American School Spectacular prize winners will be selected by a public vote. Benner needs community support!
