DCFS conducted its own investigation and found there to be three victims from District 205. Estrada worked for DCFS from July 1990 through April 2008. That's when they say he was quote "separated" from the department.

Estrada also worked as the girls and boys soccer coach at Auburn High School from 1991 to 1998.

DCFS will not say why Estrada was separated from the department or what position he held there. They began their investigation on December 13, 2012 and completed it April 10, 2013. Estrada's name will now be listed in DCFS known offenders data base for 50 years.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A former Rockford Public School District employee is charged with sexually abusing two special needs students, 5-years-old and younger.

47-year-old Nestor Estrada of Rockford is now in jail. He was arrested Tuesday after a 10-month investigation. The incidents were reported to the school district in December 2012 by the two alleged victims’ families.

Estrada faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Estrada worked at Riverdahl Elementary as a bilingual substitute for special education. He’s accused of inappropriately touching two children. The complaint filed against Estrada accuses him of having sexual contact with the students between September and December of 2012. The alleged victims are a three-year-old girl who turned four during that time period and a four-year-old boy who turned five-years- old. Authorities are not saying whether the two children were in the same classroom, but they say they’re working hard on this case.

“We take the matters that involve children seriously. After becoming state's attorney we did create a children's advocacy unit where we focus and specialize on prosecutions involving children that are victims,” said Winnebago County State's Attorney Joe Bruscato.

Estrada had worked for District 205 in the 1990’s, left, and then came back. He had worked at Riverdahl for just six weeks.

School leaders want to reassure parents that they’re doing their best to keep kids safe.

“Safety in our schools, is extremely important and we will strive to achieve ever student to be as a safe as possible at all times, said RPS School Board President Ken Scrivano.”

The district did do a background check on Estrada. He was put on unpaid leave in December 2012 and fired March 6, 2013. He faces up to 14 years in prison, however these counts are eligible for probation, which would require a lifetime registration as a sex offender. He’s currently in jail on a half-million dollar bond.

We did speak with the aunt of the alleged female victim, she didn't want to comment on camera about the case, since it's not her child, but she says she would like justice for her niece.
