ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A man who was a welcome guest in many Stateline living rooms in the 1980s has died from colon cancer.
Former 23 News Anchor Rod Grams had been battling cancer since April 2012 and had been in hospice care since September.
After talking politics in Rockford and later Minneapolis, Grams would end up being a big name in politics. First as a U.S. Representative and then a U.S. Senator from Minnesota. The Republican served on Capital Hill from 1993 until 2000.
Grams was 65 years old.
