STATELINE (WIFR) -- The Northern Illinois Food Bank is encouraging us to wear orange this Thursday to raise awareness about hunger in our community.
September is national Hunger Action Month. One in five kids in northern Illinois faces hunger.
Northern Illinois Food Bank provides food to more than 60,000 people each week through a network of 800 community food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and youth and senior feeding programs in 13 counties.
Volunteers and staff members even created a video to encourage you to “Go Orange” with them:
