Flu Season Could be a Bad One

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- Now that fall is here, flu season is just around the corner.

The Winnebago County Health Department will host more than 50 clinics offering flu and pneumonia shots. Residents 65 and older can also get a high-dose flu shot. Debbie Green is a registered nurse with the health department. She says experts look at trends from around the world to determine how the flu season will be.

"For example, Australia's flu season was a little bit higher this year, so then they will kind of predict if we'll have a little bit more extreme flu season but it doesn't always hold true," says Nurse Debbie Green.

The flu shots will be available at the health department through December. To get a complete list of their clinics check out the clinic calendar on their website.
