ROCKTON (WIFR) -- While many people are running to the store for barbeques and picnics this holiday weekend, others are honoring those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The group Rockton Remembers, along with other city organizations had this flagpole installed earlier this year at Settler's Park. On Saturday morning, there was a special ceremony to raise the colors for the first time. A plaque will be laid here in the future to honor those who have done so much for the village of Rockton.
"It's to honor the settlers of Rockton, along with the veterans and everyone who has worked to keep America, and the Village of Rockton, free,” says Judith Crane-Truman, a member of Rockton Remembers.
The flag will be flown at half staff on Monday for Memorial Day and will be in place for other holidays, like the Fourth of July and Veterans Day.
