LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- Local veterans mark Flag Day with a solemn ceremony for the Stars and Stripes.
The Vietnam Veterans Honor Society conducted a flag retirement ceremony at the LZ Peace Memorial in Loves Park. The men folded several flags and then placed them all into a fire, the traditional way to retire an American Flag. The group with then take those ashes and bury them. Flag Day began in June 14, 1777, the when the flag was officially adopted by the United States of America.
