ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It's been an especially exciting New Year's Day for one Rockford couple, who welcomed the very first Stateline baby of 2013 into the world a little after midnight.
Baby girl Busse was born at 12:34 this morning, weighing 7 pounds 3 ounces.
Her parents say it's a little overwhelming to be at the center of all this attention.
Naomi Busse says she definitely wasn't expecting a New year's baby, since her due date isn't for another week.
She was even more surprised to learn she delivered the first baby of the day.
Busse tells us, "when she was born, I was like, there's no way she could be the first baby, it's 34 minutes after. There are so many babies born whenever, so yeah, we didn't even think about it. It was a big surprise to us."
This is the couple's fourth child. They're still deciding what to name her.
