Firefighters Get Their Boots Filled for MDA

ROCKTON (WIFR) -- Local firefighters took to the streets for a different kind of fight.

With boots in hand, Rockton firefighters stood at the intersection of Main Street and Blackhawk Boulevard collecting money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Along with stations from around the country, Rockton has done this annual event for more than a decade.

"It's an hour or two out of their day and the money we collect we know it's coming from passer-byers just going through the community or the people of Rockton giving in," said Deputy Chief Dan Ewers "It's a good feeling to know we can just collect. It's not a lot but it's something to give."

The Rockton Fire Department usually raises about 2,000 dollars through the Fill The Boot campaign.
