SOUTH BELOIT (WIFR)-- The cold weather is likely to blame for a fire that caused more than a million dollars in damages to a South Beloit factory.

The fire broke out around 6 am Sunday at Axium Foods located at 239 Oak Grove Avenue. The fire department says the blaze started in the ventilation system above a fryer.

Investigators think a part in the ventilation system froze which sparked the fire. Employees were working at the time however, everyone got out safely.

Fire crews were on the scene for about three hours. The blaze caused about 1.5 million dollars in damages.
