ROCHELLE (WIFR) -- Rochelle firefighters are trying to figure out how much damage was done at a recycling plant that just opened up a few weeks ago.
Around 3 p.m. this afternoon, workers at Behr Iron and Metal were taking apart a truck when a spark ignited pieces of the truck on fire. Employees at the center tried to contain the fire themselves but were unable to and called 9-1-1.
Fire crews then got the fire under control, however there was a lot of smoke that consumed the plant and the surrounding neighborhood.
We’re told there were no injuries and work is expected to resume tomorrow.
