A local fire department is reaching out to one of it's own after a crew member lost part of his home to intense flames.
The West Suburban Fire Protection District is holding a benefit for Firefighter Gilberto Mota's family. Mota lost a part of his home to a fire in September.
Organizers say they are doing everything they can to make sure their co-worker is comfortable.
"It's a brotherhood," said Dale Weber, West Suburban Assistant Fire Chief. "You know you see it on the TV shows and stuff. You know, it is a brotherhood. I mean we stick together, we work together. When anybody has a problem, we go to help them."
The benefit is taking place at the West Suburban Fire Protection District on West State Street. It goes until around midnight.
