JANESVILLE (WIFR) – Janesville Fire Department responded to a house fire late Thursday night on the 1600 block of West Avalon Road. 911 dispatch received a call by a passer-by saying the house was on fire. When firefighters arrived on the scene they saw that the house was fully engulfed in flames and heavy smoke.
Eighteen Janesville Firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof to ventilate the house. When the fire was extinguished, investigators noted heavy structural damage that is estimated to cost $175,000 in damage repair. Investigators also say the fire had started outside and spread to the house.
