ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford police are looking for a dark colored mini-van wanted in connection to the fatal Memorial Day shooting on Pearl Street.
Assistant Deputy Chief Douglas Pann says a preliminary investigation shows around 1:15 p.m. on Monday the victim Andrew Barth, 21, and another man were near the intersection of Pearl Street and Hutchins Avenue when they got into a fight with two people inside a dark colored mini-van.
An African American male in his 20s got out of the mini-van and fired shots into Barth's pickup truck. The suspect then returned to the mini-van and fled from the area driven by another unknown suspect.
Barth crashed his vehicle and ran into a nearby home for help, while his friend ran away on foot. Officers found Barth and took him to a local hospital where he died.
