ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- We have a better idea of which schools could close under District 205's ten-year-facilities plan.

The Facilities Task Force Steering Committee is expected to recommend closing eight schools to the full board. Dennis Early Childhood Center, King, Walker, Thompson, Kishwaukee, Cherry Valley, Nelson and White Swan elementary schools would close.

There would then be two new schools built; one where Nelson and Kishwaukee are and another in place of White Swan and Cherry Valley.

West View Elementary, which was supposed to close, is now being recommended to stay open. The school board will get a look at the plan July 8th and is expected to vote on a plan August 12th.
