FTC Releases One Ring Scam Area Codes

UNDATED (WIFR) -- The "One Ring Scam" has been targeting cell phone users across the nation and now the federal government is issuing a warning.

The Federal Trade Commission says to look out for these area codes; 268,284,473,664,649,767,809,829,849, 876, which may connect us to international numbers.

Scammers are using auto-dial programs to call thousands of people at random. They let the phone ring once, and if we call that strange number back, we could be charged $20 or more in fees.
