UNDATED (WIFR) -- The FDA is taking trans fats out of our food.
Government officials say the heart clogging fats are not safe. They’re the worst kind of fat because they can raise bad cholesterol. Many companies and restaurants have already been phasing out trans fats.
The FDA says about 20,000 heart attacks may be prevented every year once the ban is in place. No timeline for the phase-out has been set yet.
