ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A local father is dedicating his work-outs and time to wounded veterans.
Mark Robinson is training for the GORUCK Selection Challenge in Chicago. He and other participants will carry a 50 pound sack among other equipment for 48 hours and be tasked with mental and physical exercises. Robinson plans to use his experience to raise money for the Wounded Warriors project, which helps injured veterans. So far, he's collected $1,000 with a goal of $5,000. Robison says he wants to give more to those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
“I give those guys the upmost respect and they are literally the true heroes of America. It’s about accomplishments. When you do something like this it makes the everyday things like taking out your garbage and the regular 9-5 stuff so much easier; you get a true appreciation for life,” says Mark Robinson.
