ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Some businesses and attractions on Rockford’s southwest side getting a boost Sunday during an event encouraging us to check out what that area of town has to offer.
It's called Explore Rockford's Roots. The Klehm Arboretum, Tinker Swiss Cottage, and Ethnic Heritage Museum teamed up with seven eateries. Admission into the destinations was free, and while there visitors could pick up coupons for dinner tonight at the restaurants. Organizers say it's a great way to show people what the southwest side has to offer while giving area businesses a boost.
"I was glad I was given the opportunity to come and visit these places for free on a Sunday instead of having to take off a regular day to go on a free day say once a month or whenever its sponsored."
Explore Rockford’s Roots was sponsored by SWIFTT, or South West Ideas for Today and Tomorrow. The non-profit's goal is to attract and keep businesses on the southwest side.
