ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- An expansion of the Rosecrance Ware Center in downtown Rockford will mean more mental health patients will have a safe place to stay and receive care during a crisis.
The center already houses a triage center for mental health patients. Some of those patients may not need to go the hospital, but still need treatment to cope with their symptoms. So the fourth floor of the ware center will be transformed. There will be beds for 16 patients to stay up to 14 nights... With nurses and mental health workers on site 24/7 to help patients get back on their feet.
With these two facilities in one building, patients won't have the stress of being shuffled around and will receive more consistent care. The renovations at the ware center are expected to take nine months
