WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) – It’s been just over five months since the Stateline lost three heroes in a horrific helicopter crash and today, Winnebago County leaders say their legacy will live on.
The names of Andy Oleson, Jim Dillow, and Karen Hollis will be included in the County’s Emergency Responders memorial. The project has been in the works for years and is designed to pay tribute to Stateliners who have died in the line of duty. Including the members of the REACT crew killed in action, just seemed like the right thing to do.
"We think this is a great idea and not just because REACT's involved, but because of all of the first responders and the sacrifices they make without being seen or known. It's a terrible thing that we kind of have to look into the reality of today, but we're honored to be a part of this event and this kind of recognition,” said REACT Chairman, Ron Meadors.
The county will have a series of fundraisers this year to help raise money for the memorial. For more information please visit www.win911.org.
