ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- When emergencies happen it's good to have a kit ready with everything you might need.
As part of Emergency Preparedness Day people at the Rockford Public Library could pick up emergency kits and learn what kinds of food and supplies we should put in them.
Paramedics and firefighters were also there to teach first aid and give some fire safety tips, and insurance and home restoration companies explained what to do after a disaster hits our homes.
