UPDATE: Preliminary results show an 82-year-old woman likely died of exposure.
Sheriff's Deputies found Myrtle Fieldhouse in a field along Route 76 Monday afternoon.
She had been reported missing Sunday morning from the assisted living facility she had lived at. Toxicology results won't be in for another 6-8 weeks.
BOONE COUNTY (WIFR) – Police tell us the 82-year-old woman who went missing from the Heritage Woods Assisted Living Center over the weekend has been found dead in Boone County.
It’s a sad ending for the family of 82-year-old Myrtle Fieldhouse. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office found her body this afternoon around 2 p.m. in a field off Route 76, about a half a mile south of Heritage Woods where she lives.
The Sheriff’s Office was called there yesterday morning around 8:30. Staff told investigators Fieldhouse was missing and they hadn’t seen her since around 7:30 Saturday night. They also said she suffered from dementia. The Sheriff’s Office had deputies out today searching and that’s when they found Fieldhouse’s body. An autopsy will be done tomorrow.
We spoke with the regional director for Heritage Woods who says the facility does have nursing staff there around the clock and there are alarms on the doors.
He says federal law will not allow him to give any more details about patient care, but says the facility is cooperating with Sheriff’s Department on this case. The director says they have never had something like this happen before.
UPDATE: We've been told by the Boone County Sheriff's Office that 82-year-old Myrtle Fieldhouse was found dead in Boone County around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon.
Police say Fieldhouse's body was found in a field along Route 76 about a quarter mile south of Squaw Prairie Road. The cause of death has not yet been determined and the Boone County Coroner's Office will be conducting an autopsy on Tuesday, March 18th.
Fieldhouse had been reported missing over the weekend.
BOONE COUNTY (WIFR) -- An elderly woman suffering from dementia has gone missing from her Boone County assisted living facility.
Myrtle Fieldhouse, 82, was last seen around 7:30pm Saturday night at Heritage Woods of Belvidere.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department spent Sunday looking for her.
Fieldhouse is 5’4”, 115 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair. She wears glasses but doesn't have them with her.
