ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Apps on our phone are the best way to play games, check sport scores or the weather and one group making its debut in Rockford is looking to create some apps for city innovations

Eigerlab's round table announced the launch of a code For America Brigade in Rockford. The program pairs web developers and designers with government officials in an effort to solve old problems in new ways using apps.

City officials believe the program can help expand on some initiatives that are already in place using innovative solutions,

Todd Cagnoni, Director of Community and Economic Development,

It will allow us to apply open source solutions to our rock stat forums that take place on a monthly basis. It will allow our public works department, our community and economic development department to expand on solutions for a community and 21st century problems," Cagnoni said

Rockford becomes the 32nd city with a Code for America Brigade. Organizers hope this will attract more talented professionals and businesses to the Stateline. The group plans on meeting the second Saturday of every month at Eigerlab
