Donations Pour In for Family in Need

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – After opening up his own wallet to help a local family in need, a Stateline tattoo artist asked his friends on Facebook to help too and he says their responses have been overwhelming.

Goldies Tattoo shop is packed to the brim with presents. Owner Blake Stokes met a father and his three young kids on Saturday, struggling to make ends meet. After giving them some money, Stokes posted on Facebook asking customers to help make the family’s Christmas a little brighter. The response has been overwhelming with people donating everything from toys to clothes, even a Christmas tree.

“Like Blake said, it definitely restores your faith in humanity because there's a lot of yucky stuff going on out in the world and this definitely makes it seem a lot happier and better, that’s for sure,” said Leo Knox who donated toys.
Stokes is dropping all of the gifts off at the family’s house tomorrow. Since he’s gotten so many donations, he says he’ll help a few other families and shelters as well.

Stokes is still accepting donations and you can drop them off at Goldies Tattoo, Rockford Tattoo Studio, and Euro Tattoo.
