STEPHENSON COUNTY (WIFR) -- Accessing the Pecatonica River in Stephenson County will soon getting easier.
Friends of the Pecatonica River will spend the next few months transforming a five acre stretch of land off Farewell Bridge Road, into a park.
The foundation plans to build a couple of fishing piers, a boat ramp, and even a canoe launch. It is all being made possible by volunteers and donations from the community.
"The thing is to get families out to enjoy more things, not being at home all the time. If you give them a place to go, they'll come out,” said Jim Leamy with Friends of the Pecatonica River Foundation.
Leamy tells us the foundation hopes to put the finishing touches on the area before the end of the summer.
