MORRISON, Ill. (AP) -- Nicholas Sheley's murder trial has continued with testimony from the doctor who performed the autopsy on one of the accused spree killer's alleged victims.

The Daily Gazette reportsDr. Scott Denton on Thursday described the autopsy of 93-year-old Russell Reed of Sterling. Sheley is accused in Reed's death and the killings of seven other people in Illinois and Missouri. He has pleaded not guilty.

Denton said he found defensive wounds on Reed's left hand, dislocated bones, bruises and five broken ribs among other injuries. He told jurors some wounds came from a blunt object.

Thursday is the fourth day of testimony in the trial. Sheley has already been sentenced to life in prison for the bludgeoning death of a Galesburg man.

Another juror dismissed at Sheley murder trial

MORRISON, Ill. (AP) -- Another juror has been replaced in the trial of a man accused in a 2008 killing spree that left eight people dead in Illinois and Missouri.

The Daily Gazette reportsJudge F. Michael Meersman told jurors Thursday that a female juror was dismissed because she injured herself. The woman is the second juror dismissed at Nicholas Sheley's Whiteside County trial in the death of 93-year-old Russell Reed. Two of the three alternate jurors have been called. That leaves one alternate juror.

On Wednesday, an attorney representing one of the witnesses said he represented a male juror in a divorce case. The judge dismissed the juror.

Sheley has pleaded not guilty. He's already been sentenced to life in prison for the bludgeoning death of a Galesburg man.
