Dixon Teacher Strike Hurt a Local Summer Camp

DIXON (WIFR) – Dixon students will have an extra week of classes at the end of the school which could hurt a few summer camps.

Supervisors at the Reynoldswood Christian Camp are forced to start their summer program a week later since kids will be in school until June 5th because of the recent teachers strike that lasted several weeks. That will cost Reynoldswood about $2,500. Camp directors say the extra days are bad for business.

"We lose that opportunity to serve those kids,” says camp director Eric Hoffman. “We look at where our summer staff is going to be in terms of if they're going to be finished with school in time to be able to go through training."

Reynoldswood also offers an after school program. Summer camp is expected to start June 10th.
