ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford middle school students are getting a taste of the real world.
The Reality Store set up shop at Eisenhower Middle School on Thursday. The event gives eighth grader the chance to experience what it's like to be an adult. Students must make decision on how to pay bills, balance a budget and support a family. It also gives them a chance to learn about colleges and careers.
Erin Schanfeldt, Eisenhower Middle School Student, says it was an eye opening experience.
"Life is harder than it looks because parents buy you your clothes and everything and insurance and you don't know how much it cost and how hard it is to support a family," Schanfeldt said.
This month all District 205 eighth graders will take part in The Reality Store.
