Dist. 205 School Renovations Vote Delayed

.ROCKFORD (WIFR) - - There's been a lot of planning with the Rockford School District's ten-year-facilities plan. And we were supposed to see that work come to life soon, but Tuesday night District 205 pushed back the process.

The board was supposed to vote on a bid for Hagney Architects to help with work on field-houses at Auburn and Guilford High Schools. The company would also help with renovations at East and additions at Conklin, Froberg, Johnson, Lathrop, McIntosh and Spring Creek. But school board members had a lot of questions and they were concerned that the bid hadn't gone before the operations committee. So the board pushed back the vote for another week. Despite that teachers are excited about the changes to come.

REA President Dawn Granath says "They're also excited to see new electrical outlets and new windows and new air conditioning and they're looking forward to being part of that process and we're looking forward to having input into what is going to be asked for and what is going to be needed in each building."

Chief Operations Officer Todd Schmidt says delaying the plan, quote "Will directly impact children in the district." Schmidt said if the board would've approved the bid the district could've started meeting with Hagley to develop projects.
