WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- A local detective officially says good-bye to a job he's called his life for the last four decades.
Winnebago County deputy chief Dominic Iasparro is retiring today. This morning, co-workers and friends celebrated his career. Iasparro has been in law enforcement for more than 40 years and says he will miss serving the public.
"I knew it was the last day and I was dreading this day ever getting here," Iasparro says. "It's here and I am excited about the future, spend time with family and have new adventures in my life but I am going to really miss this."
Sargeant Larry Marino will take over. He says Iasparro has been his mentor for the last eight years and he's ready to step in.
