STATELINE (WIFR) – It’s been about two months since the last sighting of a black bear spotted several times in the Stateline earlier this summer. Now, we’ve obtained a timeline from DNR of where the bear is believed to have ended up.

Starting on May 24th, the black bear was spotted a few times in Jo Daviess county. A week later, he traveled all the way to Winnebago County where he was seen again in Loves Park at North Main and Harlem Road. The next day, he headed back to Freeport before turning around and wandering aback through Winnebago County. At that point, the bear started going south and was seen several times throughout Ogle County. The last sighting was exactly a month later in Jo Daviess County before he is believed to have left the state.

You can check out the DNR’s full timeline at the attached related document.
