Countywide "Booze-N-Belts" Deployment for Rock County

ROCK COUNTY (WIFR) -- On Friday, December 14, local law enforcement agencies in Rock County will be deploying extra patrol personnel. Beginning at 7:00 a.m., patrol units will be on the lookout for motorists driving without their seatbelts fastened.

Traffic enforcement actions will continue throughout the day with additional units deploying at night to stop and arrest alcohol/drugged impaired drivers. The initiative is in support of the state wide Booze-N-Belts campaign which is from December 7th to December 16th.

Agencies also intend to make local citizens and motorists aware of their efforts through High Visibility Enforcement techniques such as:
• Officers wearing reflective traffic vests
• Agencies deploying on shared roadways (Hwy 51, Hwy 26..)
• Traffic enforcement signs
• Notifying local media outlets before, during, and after the deployment date

The extra patrol enforcement is reimbursed through traffic grants provided by Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Agencies that currently do not receive funding are assigning on duty patrol, when able, to support the countywide effort. The list of agencies participating is:
• City of Beloit Police
• Town of Beloit Police
• Village of Clinton Police
• City of Edgerton Police
• City of Evansville Police
• Town of Fulton Police
• City of Janesville Police
• City of Milton Police
• Town of Milton Police
• Rock County Sheriff’s Office
• WI State Patrol
