ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Average gas prices continue to fall again this week in the Rockford area. The price has fallen to just over 11 cents per gallon making the average per gallon at about $3.24.

According to GasBuddy, this amount is about 12 cents lower than compared to the local average last year.

This also compares with the national average that has fallen almost six cents per gallon at about $3.30 per gallon.

"The national average continues its downward trend in wholesale prices of gasoline which is nearing its yearly low which is adding up to significant savings for motorists," said GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan. "Americans are spending over $100 million less per day on gasoline than they did a year ago."
