ROCKTON (WIFR) -- The Village Board of Rockton has given a preliminary ok to a plan to annex land near the newly built Wal-Mart. First Rockford Group proposed the plan and could buy the property. A few business owners lease buildings there now. They say they will be forced to move if First Rockford Group buys the land. The business owners say, they don't mind moving, as long as they get advanced notice and help with moving costs.
“I'm all for growth it brings in business but it’s got to be done right and I don’t think I should have to move at my expense for someone's profit basically," said Don Ganrude, owner of R & L Auto Body.
The village board expects a final vote on the annexation plan later this month.
