College of Medicine Closing Psychiatric Clinic

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Patients at the University of Illinois College of Medicine's psychiatric clinic only have about two more months to find new doctors.

The clinic is closing on September 30. Doctors started telling their 2,000 patients about the change last month.

College of Medicine spokeswoman Cynthia Hall says the clinic has been struggling financially and says the seemingly never-ending budget cuts from the state didn't help either.

The clinic has two full time and six part time providers. Many are looking to now start their own private practices to continue serving their patients, however Hall says all have the opportunity to move into other positions with the college of medicine.
