Cold Weather May Have Caused a Fire at a Beloit Factory

BELOIT (WIFR) -- The cold weather is likely to blame for a fire that caused more than a million dollars in damages to a south Beloit factory.

The fire broke out around 6am Sunday at Axium Foods on Oak Grove Avenue in Beloit. The fire department says flames started in the ventilation system above a fryer. Investigators think a ventilation pan froze and sparked the fire. Employees were working at the time but everyone got out safely. Fire crews were on the scene for about three hours. The blaze caused about one and a half million dollars in damages.
